Now About Us

So we have told you about the pups it is probably time we told you about us.  We both met our sophomore year while attending Belmont University in Nashville.  We had mutual friends and we were both Marketing majors.  So basically after that we had lots of classes together (small school!) and we just pretty much clicked.

Brianne is originally from Indiana and I (Kristen) are from outside of Nashville.  After Belmont we both found jobs working in Franklin, TN and we both lived @ my parents house in the fall of 2007.  We are both very similar and can be pretty dorky but have a blast doing so. 

It is easy to shop for each other because we can basically buy what we like and know the other will like it.  Which makes shopping easy and hard at the same time because there is so much you want to buy!

We try to go on annual girl's trips.  In 2008 we went to Atlanta, GA for the weekend and spent a lot of time shopping, and even made a trip to the American Girl store & ate at the cafe for my birthday.  We brought our dolls too (see what I mean about being dorks? But we're okay with it!).  In 2009 I flew out to see Brianne in Arizona and we drove to the Grand Canyon, Sedona & The 4 Corners (in the middle of nowhere but still worth it!).  We haven't had a girl's weekend for 2010 and although finances are very tight we still hope we can!

Brianne is currently applying to schools to be a Physicians Assistant and that could take her anywhere (although there is a terrific school in Nashville!).  She works at a nursing home & also at Gap.  She doesn't have any free time.  I graduated in May with my M.Ed in Teaching and am trying to get my foot in the door!  I am currently working @ my church doing the Sunday School curriculum and also work part time as a nanny with lots of baby-sitting spread around as well. 

Life is pretty crazy for us but we love it!

Introduction to Pancake

So Brianne wrote a great introduction to Kirby and now Pancake needs her time to shine.

Favorite Toy: Kitty (actually a cat toy.  She loves the mice that you buy for cats.  She has a few!)
Best Friend: Kirby
Favorite treat: Milkbones
Favorite time of day: When her mommy gets home
Likes: Sleeping, snuggling, being spoiled, trying to play with Izzy (cat), playing with her toys, treats.
Dislikes: Waking up early, baths, getting her nails cut,

She really thinks she is a princess.  If I try to wake her up early when I put the family pets out she gives me a look like, "I am not getting up now.  What are you thinking?" and she goes to curl up on another part of the bed.  I wonder if she remembers her "old, bad puppy-mill life."  She is really spoiled (she is the only dog allowed to sit at the front door, on the furniture etc.) and so now I think she thinks she is entitled to it.  Of course, I don't tell her anything different.  :)

A little more about our Pups...

Hello out there! I'm so excited to be starting this blog with Kristen! As she mentioned, we currently live at opposite ends of the country, and it's awesome to be able to do this together--it's hard to be that far away from your best friend! We had been talking about starting a blog for awhile, but couldn't decide what it should be about. Considering our pups--Kirby and Pancake--are the center of our universe, it was an obvious choice. I honestly don't know what we would do without them.

So, since Pancake and Kirby were our inspiration for this blog, I thought you might want to get to know them a little better. Here's the inside scoop on Kirby:

Likes: walks, going "bye-bye" in the car, McDonald's french fries, sleeping in

Dislikes: baths, toys that play music, Chevy Chase (she honestly barks at him any time he is on TV), vacuum cleaners, hair dryers

As you can see, she is quite a mess! I think she honestly believes she's one of us and not a dog. Although I don't really help matters by spoiling her rotten and treating her like she is my child. Kristen and I both do this--in our eyes, they are both angels and can do no wrong. And we have no problem admitting it. Just ask our mothers :)

Welcome

Welcome to Two Girls & Their Pups.  We will be blogging about our favorite pet products, pet communities, things going on in the pet world, our animals and our lives.  We are Kristen & Brianne and are best friends living across the country (Brianne is in Arizona & Kristen is in Tennessee) from each other. 

Kristen has been blogging for a while (www.ladybug-blessings.com) and has been trying to get Brianne started.  We both love dogs and love talking about them and the new things we find for them.  So a pet blog was a perfect way for us to share our love of animals and blogging together.  In addition, there are also lots of wonderful communities online to help animals and by creating a pet blog we could become part of the communities as well.

We look forward to getting this blog up and running and can't wait for your to learn more about us and our fabulous pups!
